Tales of life in the jungles of Africa will be related by one only recently returned from the African Congo next Sunday night when the Rev. Anton Andersen speaks at the Palatine Methodist Church. A rare opportunity is afforded Palatine people to hear a first-hand story of the life of a missionary in the heart of an uncivilized continent. How this Christian missionary with his family survived the hardships and privations of Africa and the hairbreadth escapes they had and many other thrilled experiences will be told Sunday night by his adventurer in missionary projects. Come and hear him Sun night at 7:30 o’clock.

A crowded church full of people greeted the Rev. Anton Andersen at the Palatine Methodist Church last Sun night. Mr. A held the attention of the large audience as he related his thrilling experiences in the Belgian Congo. He gave the audience an opportunity to ask questions and many availed themselves of the chance to learn more about the Africa n country and its natives. Various trophies were shown by Mr. Andersen including a leopard skin, one of 8 secured by his rifle an Ivory tusk from an elephant which he shot and other interesting evidence of his skill. He told of the method used in teaching the Bible and Christianity to the natives and of the success attained in the mission work. It was an interesting story and the audience showed its keen appreciated by close attention as well as by a liberal offering to assist Mr. Andersen in carrying on his work to which he plans to return as soon as his health improves and his family are able to return to the African climate.

Benton Harbor – Funeral services for Mrs. Esther R Hayes, 52 of 1171 Sommer St, who d Saturday in the Berrien Co Hospital, Berrien Center were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the Kerlikowske Funeral Home with Brigadier Edward Johnson of the Salvation Army officiating. Survivors are a son Ronald and daughter, Mrs. Edward Butts both Benton Harbor; three brothers, Fred Prenzing, Crawfordsville; Robert of Lakeview Ill and George, Chicago; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Hutchins, Mrs. Mildred Sherman and Miss Viola Prenzing all of Chicago; Mrs. Emma Bell ,Crawfordsville and Mrs. Anton Andersen, Elmhurts, Ill and two grandchildren. Burial in New Troy Cem.
